Getting closer all the time

It's starting to feel like the baby could actually come soon. I'm getting really uncomfortable, and the reality is setting in. Time to pack the hospital bag, right?

My plan is to start working from home a couple of days a week beginning next week, until the baby comes. That should make things a little easier. I still have a lot to tie up at work before I can comfortably leave, though, including the details of my maternity leave. We're all set up for a home office now, though, with the new computer and this great printer, which is also a stand-alone fax.

Last night, we had our last Bradley class (last week, it was cancelled due to the snow). The five couples in our class met with the five couples from the last class. They brought their little babies and told their birth stories. It was really cool seeing the little babies, although it still feels like "what does that have to do with us?" It was also reassuring to hear all of the stories. Some were hospital births and some were home births, or at birthing centers, but they all had successful no-intervention births. We were also asked to bring "healthy snacks" to share with the other couples. We've been rotating snack duty throughout the class, and Nathan and I joked about bringing junk food to the last class, but we brought fruit salad. Much to our amusement, our classsmates all brought junk food - Krispy Creme doughtnuts, chocolates, etc. Very funny. The best was the look on the Bradley teacher's face. She was horrified. Normally, people are encouraged to bring things like soy-peanut butter balls, flavoured with all natural apple juice (those were awful).

This morning, we signed up with a pediatric practice. They have admitting privileges at our hospital, so they will be able to come do an exam on the baby every day that we're in the hospital, and we'll take the baby in for his firstr check-up there after he comes home. One of the doctors is married to our favourite OB doctor, and his father is also an OB (and a mohel) who will be doing the baby's circumcision. Needless to say, we're fans of this doctor family.
