2 months old and healthy

We had our 2 month pediatrician's appointment this afternoon, on the first day that Nathan is back at work. It was incredible to have that time together - thankfully, I'm healed and comfortable enough with Zack to take care of him by myself during the daytime for the next little while.

We had a good report at the doctor. Zack weighs 12 pounds, 14 ounces (75th percentile) and is 23 3/4 inches long (also just upwards of the 75th percentile). The most remarkable measurement was, of course, his head (16 3/4 inches - 97th percentile!). No wonder those little shirt that are supposed to pull on over the head don't fit.

He also got a bunch of shots today. :( He was pretty tough about it, and is currently sleeping it off. We're supposed to watch him over the next 24 hours. I guess a lot of babies have reactions to this round of shots. I've got the infant Tylenol ready to go just in case. Hope he gets through it ok.

Yesterday, he spent a lot of time in the activity gym. Something just "clicked" and all of a sudden, instead of just lying there like he was on any other blanket, he got all happy and excited, kicking his feet and batting at the stuffed animals dangling above him. It's fun to watch him get excited about something.

All good news. Isn't it wonderful that he's growing up so nicely! The head count is too funny. It's all too familiar as Charles can almost never find a hat that does anything but balance on top of his head. I guess it's clear that he has a good head on his shoulders. ---Grandmommy Sandy

Sounds like Zack passed his first test...what a baby! I knew he would be exceptional! We can't wait to see him up close and personal in a few weeks. Good boy Z-Baby. Love, Aunt Sherry
