Happy Second Birthday!
Zack had a great birthday. We had a big party at Gymboree, with Zack's friend Gavin. Zack and Gavin share the same birthday and have a lot of friends in common, so it seemed like a natural fit. They were even born in the same hospital, and Moms went through labor with the same doctor. It gets eeerier. Both of their Dads are Jewish and their Moms are not. They happen to own the same cute turtleneck from The Gap (Thanks, Aunt Sherry!) which made for a cute matching photo for the invitations. They also each have 2 grandparents from Arkansas, and wouldn't you know it, when you put people from Arkansas in a room together, they discover that Gavin's great-grandfather was Zack's great-aunt Judy's dentist when she was a kid. Gavin's granddad told us all about Ray White and how great Heifer is. Small world.
In any case, fun was had, even if it was a little overwhelming. Someone told me today that to have it run smoothly, you should invite as many kids to the party as your child is in years old. So we did that, and then added another 15 kids or so. Whoops. In any case, we all survived, and Uncle Stephen even made the trip down from New York. After the party, we'd planned Zack's favorite lunch (PIZZA!) at home, but he fell asleep in the car and slept three hours on an empty stomach. That's one exhausted toddler!
